illestâ„¢ Clothing continues its commitment to innovative collaborations through the partnership with reigning Formula DRIFT Champion Dai Yoshihara. illist and Yoshihara have united to release several custom co-branded apparel and accessories line. The partnership brings together a leading lifestyle & fashion brand and an iconoclastic driver awarded "Best Style" in Formula DRIFT.
Dai started drifting the mountains of Japan as soon as he got his driver's license at the age of 18, when he got inspired by seeing other people drifting. Before that, he satisfied his love for speed by riding motorcycles. In Japan, you can't obtain a driver's license until you reach the age of 18, but you can get a motorcycle license as early as 16 years old. Dai's first drift car was an AE86, and he started his professional driving career in 2003 in the US, moving into Formula D in 2004. Despite his talent, he described his daily as "not that cool". If Dai wasn't drifting, his passion for vehicles would still be as evident as he wouldn't mind being a rally car driver or doing road racing.
While he doesn't watch a lot of TV, Dai tries to watch the speed channel when he can, while catching some video game time, playing Gran Turismo. If he isn't behind the wheel, he can be found on the green golfing or at the beach surfing. Keeping himself busy, Dai is also a current judge for Formula D Asia, while he has no plans for being a judge for Formula D in the states, his passion for being a judge in Asia is credited to seeing the drifting culture getting bigger and bigger in Asia. His music interests stretch across a wide spectrum, invaliding rock all the way to J-Pop. Aside from already building a growing fan base, Dai looks to continue to pursue his passion for driving and drifting, and the illest crew is looking forward to seeing on the track.
